Foreign Language Proficiency

INFORMATION ON FOREIGN LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

  1. Proof of foreign language proficiency will be required, with English being the required language for the Master’s program. This proof must be submitted in the first semester after enrollment in the program or during the first academic year.
  2. Official proof documents issued by UFSC or another public higher education institution will be accepted.
  3. According to Resolution 02/PPGSC/2018 (in Portuguese), the PPGINFOS accepts proficiency certificates in other languages with a validity period of 4 (four) years for Master’s programs. The date of the Foreign Language Proficiency exam will be analyzed at the time of submission of the proficiency proof to the Program Secretariat.
  4. Foreign students in the graduate programs must also demonstrate proficiency in the Portuguese language.
  5. The study of foreign languages for proficiency approval does not grant credits in the program.
