Reception of Professor Ruth Masterson Creber at PPGINFOS through the Fulbright Specialist Program

Through the Fulbright Specialist Program, the Graduate Program in Health Informatics (PPGINFOS) is honored to welcome Professor Ruth Masterson Creber, PhD, RN, from Columbia University, NY/USA. This is the second time that PPGINFOS has been awarded this prestigious opportunity by Fulbright, reinforcing its commitment to academic excellence and global collaboration in Health Informatics and Digital Health.

Professor Ruth Masterson Creber is the Mary Crawford Professor of Nursing at the Columbia University School of Nursing, where she conducts innovative research focused on improving the quality of life of patients with cardiac conditions and enhancing healthcare delivery models. Currently, she leads the evaluation of an integrated mobile health intervention for heart failure patients, utilizing community paramedics and telemedicine facilitated by emergency medicine teams.

Additionally, Masterson Creber is conducting global pragmatic clinical trials in cardiac surgery across Europe, Asia, and North America, assessing the impact of coronary artery bypass graft surgery on patients’ quality of life, symptoms, and cognitive function.

She is a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and the American Heart Association and an inductee of the Sigma Theta Tau International Hall of Fame, establishing herself as a global leader in healthcare research and innovation.

During her time at PPGINFOS, Professor Ruth Masterson Creber will engage in various academic and scientific activities, contributing her knowledge and expertise to advance Health Informatics and Telehealth (Advancing Informatics and Telehealth), strengthening the exchange of knowledge and collaboration between researchers and professionals in the field.

Starting on March 10th, Professor Ruth will actively engage in strategic activities with faculty, researchers, and students, fostering knowledge exchange in Health Informatics and Telehealth. Her contributions will be crucial for:

  1. Enhancing the curriculum structure of PPGINFOS, ensuring that the program aligns with best practices and international trends.
  2. Leading high-impact discussions on Artificial Intelligence, Ethics, and Telehealth, addressing challenges and innovations in digital health.
  3. Integrating new perspectives into research and education creates a dynamic environment for experience-sharing among students, faculty, and professionals.
  4. Promoting strategic collaborations and expanding PPGINFOS’ network of international partnerships.
